Gimpdome

Figured out how to create stereograms "manually" in GIMP. No plugins, special filters, anything....It's a fairly simple process, although a bit repetitive. It's not perfect as stereogram programs have algorithms to minimize "ghosting" (aka "sliver" effects), which can be unsightly, but it's really cool to do it manually. Once I get the technique refined, I'll prepare a tutorial.

very nice I think this was the fastest I have been able to see one of these on the computer.

now i'm seeing three on top of each other and the depth is incredible.

woot i wasn't crazy it is a butterfly...... right on i saw one with out the headache

Weird, what's with me? I can't see a butterfly at all.

there's nothing wrong with you.  look at the image and slowly start to cross your eyes.  you will see the butterfly pop out.  you can also try to look past the image.
