Looks good void.  I *know* how to fix it, but I can't explain the steps.  Can you post the xcf and I'll write down the steps to do so.  I tried correcting the gif itself, but no go.

Actually, here's what you need to do.....I knew I had discussed this once before, but couldn't recall where (the search box works wonders....who woulda thunk it?!  :D)  At any rate, take a look at this thread; same exact situation: http://www.gimpdome.com/index.php?topic=4441.0

Let me know if you need further help.

I'd rate you as an upper-middle-lower-mod with pro-novice-inter tendencies.....and a twist of lime!  Of course, my rating scale is completely objectively subjective, but ALWAYS consistently inconsistent.

This was easier than I thought ... tho I am certain there is a better way, just not sure what that better way is yet

TY fencepost--i put it on a black background in this one:

that's cool Darth--did you paste the text in on each layer or is there a way to make a layer that isn't included in the animation but overlays it?

we all see what we want to see

Actually, that wouldn't be too difficult of a thing to do with the current script.  Basically, I could set it up where the user creates a logo of some sort, merges all of the layers used in the logo creation (or does a copy visible/paste as new layer), and then runs the script with the logo layer as the active layer.  The active layer would be copied into a new image and overlain on each flame layer.

If that's something you think would work or if you have other suggestions, let me know and I'll start modifying the script.

Keep in mind that I centered the text, applied a color to black gradient and set the layer to Screen before merging.

Well, as far as positioning the text, I would let the user specify the location either by setting the coordinates or using the current logo position.

applied a color to black gradient

What did you apply the gradient to? The text?

The user could also choose the desired blend mode, as well.

I don't think any of those will be an issue, but, I've said that about a LOT of projects I've gotten involved with!
