Here's the base warp speed tunnel scripts. Right now, they only create the background. Depending on the route I decide to go, I'll either build additional options into the base script or create separate script(s) for adding features to the animation (such as text effects or moving objects).
Here's some sample images:
Space Tunnel Polar Coordinates Space Tunnel Additionally, you can modify the parameters to create cool things like this (Setting the Circle Depth Start/Finish at 270 & leaving the other parameters at the default):
Here's the previous image with the setting the Circle Depth Start/Finish at 270 & setting the Offset Angle Start at 0 and the Offset Angle Finish at 359)
Lastly, here's the ping-pong version with the Ping-Pong option selected, the Circle Depth Start setting at -270 and the Circle Depth Finish at 270.
To create these animations, you will need the following scripts:
FP's animated fire scriptFP's space tunnel scriptFP's square polar coordinates tunnel scriptFP's reverse layers scriptOpen the zip files and save the .scm files to your GIMP scripts folder (ie...C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts). Refresh your scripts and you're ready to go. The scripts can be located under the Filters > Animation >
On an open image, go to Filters > Animation > Animated Fire... and choose the desired settings (you can use any gradient of your choice) and hit OK:
When the new animation image is finished being created, go to Filters > Animation > Space Tunnel... or Filters > Animation > Animated Polar Coordinates...
The scripts will do the rest.
If you want to reverse the direction of the animation, go to Filters > Animation > Reverse Layers...
That's it! Let me know if you have any suggestions or trouble.

P.S. I tried the suggestion by Oregonian to use a brush in the middle to hide the hole created by tunnel process. It worked well, but it was kind of unsightly and I found a different method that had better results. Thanks for the suggestion, O. I was hoping it would work too.
