Hmmm I've been uber inactive (again) here

FP, the sprite came from Pokemonelite (Link in the first post). As far as I know, all their sprites have png transparencies.

Mmmwell, a few things that come to my mind when that happens are:

1)You copied from the site, then pasted it in. It WILL have a bg if you did that. You have to save it to your computer then open it in Gimp for it to keep it's transparency.

2)Your browser doesn't support png transparency. It would look something like what you posted, Vilyt, on the website itself. You could just upgrade your broser if that's the case.

Well, I'm not sure that the Browser would have an affect on your GIMP project.  The browser might show it as black when it's really not, but in your GIMP window everything would be correct....well, that is if you saved everything properly.  I have a feeling your png settings might be incorrect.

Here's what mine look like when I save pngs.  See if yours match.  If not, try using my settings and see if it helps.  You need to have the Save color values from transparent pixels turned checked.

Let me know if this works or not.

I'd rate you as an upper-middle-lower-mod with pro-novice-inter tendencies.....and a twist of lime!  Of course, my rating scale is completely objectively subjective, but ALWAYS consistently inconsistent.

Ok, I changed it (which i had to check the save background colour)
But anyways here's a screen shot of the window when I save something in PNG format. Though, I just cant check the save color values from transparent pixels.. =T

How about uploading the actual sprites for us to take a look at or give us the exact link to the site where you downloaded them so we can download em and see what's going on?

Hey, vilyt! (aka bloominn) -

Yeah, I brought that sprite into GIMP as a transparent image with no trouble at all.  You probably just made a simple mistake along the way....maybe you flattened the image which would remove all transparency and give it a background color.  I recommend you try the tutorial again using the image you posted for me to see.  Just start a new GIMP project and go to File Menu > Open as Layer and direct GIMP to the location of that image.  I imagine it's probably something as easy as that.

If that doesn't work, let me know.  BTW, I got your note at dA and will convert the brushes within the next couple of days.
