I tried this one but I think I went wrong somewhere, I managed to get the clipping masks to work after many attempts but that's my own fault!  ::)

So I'll post my attempt, can anyone tell me if they can see where I've gone wrong, mainly because the finished one looks no different to my stock  Except for the splatter brushes...

did you do the smudge step.  that would get rid of any detail in the background.

in the clipping steps, you should make the splatter, alpha select it, create a new layer then past into the splatter.  move that layer around.

what you should get is pieces of the image in the splatter.  you should hide the original splatter layer.

Thanks :) I missed the smudge one out! Silly me... ::) I'll try again

Ok...I've done the clipping mask but whenever I add any Gradient Maps or anything it colours in the brushes and not the whole layer...

This is how far I've got

When I blurred it, again it only did the brushes, is that supposed to happen?

are you leaving the splatter selected?  you should un-select the splatter after you move it.
